I posted a porch view on Sunday and since then I’ve gotten so many DMs about them! 🌿 Y’all know I’m not a master gardener but I have found a few things over the past year that have helped these ferns not only stay alive (which is a huge win for me 😅) but also THRIVE!

So here are my 3 secrets:

1️⃣ Self Watering Planter - if you struggle with keeping up with all the things (like me 🙋🏻‍♀️), self watering planters are a great option! They hold extra water in the bottom of the planter and the plant can soak up water as needed if you forget to water or if the climate is extra hot or dry.

2️⃣ Mist, mist and more mist! 💦 Even though we usually have super high humidity here in South Louisiana I’ve noticed that ferns just can’t get enough! I keep a spray bottle on the porch and mist them almost daily even in the high humidity months. It’s best to mist in the morning!

3️⃣ Fish Fertilizer 🐟 My friend Sara @simplysoutherncottage shared this tip a few years ago so I couldn’t wait to use when we finally had ferns on our porch! We use one cap full of fish fertilizer in a 2 gallon watering can once per month.
