Christmas Home Tour: Cozy Vintage Charm and Stunning DIY Décor
Hey y’all! Welcome to my holiday home! I am so excited to be with you today as part of The Bloggers Best Christmas Home Tour. Grab a cup of coffee or mug of hot chocolate, crank up the Christmas tunes and let’s take a tour of my Louisiana cottage farmhouse as I share all of by best tips and DIYs to help you transform your home for the holidays on a budget.
This year, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and add a festive touches of red to my Christmas décor, a significant change from my usual neutral palette. The result? A warm, cohesive, and elevated take on a vintage Christmas that ties together every room with patterns, colors, and textures. I’m not saying I’m abandoning my neutral roots but it is definitely so much fun sprinkling in a little seasonal color!
Throughout my home, I’ve used a blend of red, green, white, black, and brown, incorporating natural elements like pinecones and plenty of DIY projects to give my southern home a cozy, festive charm. From my living room and kitchen to the dining room and our first-year Christmas greenhouse, every space reflects the holiday season with simple touches.

Christmas Living Room
The living room is the heart of our home during the holidays, and my Christmas tree set the tone of the space. I’ve decorated it with a mix of red and gold ornaments, decorative velvet ball picks, and ribbons, including charming red-and-white striped bows that nod to this year’s bow trend while keeping with my vintage Christmas style.
To add a cohesive touch on a budget, I incorporated my DIY wrapping paper stars made from plaid Christmas paper, which tie in perfectly with other décor elements in the room including my packages. I added a beautiful wood bench from Twelve Timbers to add height and rustic charm beneath the Christmas tree.
Vintage-style gold clip-on candle lights give the tree a nostalgic glow, while my handmade raw wood bead garland and a vintage gold paper-mâché star tree topper add texture and charm.
The mantel complements the tree with white light-up houses, bottle brush trees, vintage brass candlesticks, and my DIY pinecone trees from fall. I love reusing decor from multiple seasons to keep the decorating expenses down! I carried the bow theme over to the mantel to make the spaces feel coordinated.
On the coffee table, I kept things simple with Norfolk pine sprigs in a simple white stoneware crock with a small red velvet ribbon bow, a vintage brass trumpet candlestick trio, a basket filled with pinecones and a few seasonal books. This is my basic coffee table “recipe” that I use for each season.
Coordinating pillow covers in red velvet, ivory, and brown, along with red-and-green plaid throw blankets, pull the room together.
For TV art, I chose a nostalgic Christmas village scene with soft, neutral colors. Even though I don’t have a Frame TV, I use Airplay to project artwork onto my screen, which is such an easy way to change out art whenever I want! My husband made a raw wood frame for the TV but the simple black frame is just as beautiful.

Christmas Kitchen
Our white kitchen transforms into a nostalgic Christmas kitchen with fun holiday décor and practical touches that reflect the season. I’ve styled my open shelves with whimsical Santa mugs, green vintage-style ornament garlands, and bottle brush trees. Vintage-inspired Christmas art replaces my usual landscape prints, adding a festive feel without breaking the bank.
I kept my island centerpiece simple by adding a few pine stems into a wood tray. I displayed a few nutcrackers I had on hand from previous years and changed up the look with red and white striped ribbon. I like to keep an airtight container of holiday themed snacks in a glass jar for guests (mostly my sons!) to enjoy. For Christmas, I added my fun blend of sweet and salty Christmas Crunch. I’m sharing more on that later. A cozy candle in a vintage brass candle holder adds the cozy finishing touch to the centerpiece.
A favorite tradition in our home is setting up a hot chocolate bar for the holiday season. Glass jars filled with marshmallows, peppermints, and caramel squares make it easy to assemble the perfect cup of hot chocolate. My vintage-style hot chocolate dispenser adds charm and functionality, and I usually have treats like cookies or donut holes on hand for quick holiday snacks.
For an extra personal touch, I added these vintage hand stamped spoons from Wandering Tulips to the hot chocolate bar. They’re so fun and whimsical! Just what every hot chocolate bar needs!

Christmas Dining Room
This year, my dining room is a gingerbread and jadeite wonderland filled with a mix of DIY decor and new additions to my vintage collections.
I displayed my DIY gingerbread houses on my vintage-up cycled china cabinets and added DIY gingerbread snowflake garland and ornaments for a playful touch. More on this DIY coming soon!
The soft green hues of my jadeite collection provide a unique vintage Christmas look, complemented by gold chargers and scalloped jadeite plates at each place setting. I added these vintage Johnson Brothers Windsor Green dessert plates to my collection this year. The simple green pattern, scalloped edge with gold trim and subtle crazing made my heart skip a beat when I saw them. I am on the hunt for more pieces in this pattern! Jadeite colored ceramic trees complete each place setting for a fun, yet elegant touch.
The tablescape features a neutral linen runner layered with pine garland, fairy lights, and red-and-white striped ribbon. Vintage brass candlesticks with ivory tapers add warmth, while a gingerbread house cake centerpiece ties the theme together.
Take boxed cake mix to the next level by using an intricate bundt cake pan like this gingerbread house pan! So easy and looks so beautiful simply garnished with confectioner’s sugar!
On the plate wall, I swapped my usual black transferware for extra pieces of jadeite, ironstone, and my treasured gingerbread snowflake plate from Hobby Lobby (if you know, you know!). This little detail brings the whole room together with charm and whimsy.

Christmas in the Greenhouse
This is our first year decorating the greenhouse, and I couldn’t wait to add a Christmas tree! A pre-lit North Carolina pine tree, adorned simply with pinecones, creates a natural and festive feel.
On the table, Christmas linens and pine and berry stems add a cozy holiday touch.
Fresh cranberries and rosemary from my herb garden give the evening beverages an extra festive touch!
The sweet potato vine thriving in the greenhouse adds an unexpected pop of greenery that feels right at home with the holiday décor in our warm Southern climate.
