There is something so magical about this time of year and I am so excited to finally share our farmhouse inspired holiday porch with you. This space has been a long time coming because our screened in back porch construction project has truly been a labor of love. My husband and I spent years dreaming of this space and months bringing it to life with our own hands just in time for the holiday season. We tackled every part of the build ourselves and seeing it finally come together has been one of the most rewarding home projects we have ever done.
I will be sharing every construction detail in an upcoming post but today is all about revealing the finished space and hopefully giving you plenty of inspiration for creating your own holiday porch. To keep everything cohesive, I carried the same color palette of green, ivory, white, brown and gold out onto the porch. This simple color scheme brings in the rustic charm of farmhouse style while keeping the overall look elegant and timeless.
A holiday porch is such a great way to welcome family and friends and elevate any outdoor space. With lush greenery, warm lights, vintage accents and cozy textures, you can turn even the simplest porch into a festive retreat. I am so excited to walk you through each element and share how everything came together on our farmhouse porch for the Christmas season.

When it comes to holiday decorating, nothing compares to the warmth and beauty that comes from fresh greens or realistic faux greenery. Greenery is one of the easiest ways to instantly transform a porch during christmas time and give it that cozy vibe we all love. I personally gravitate toward the natural looks of high quality Norfolk pine because it adds the perfect touch of soft winter greens without feeling artificial.
On our holiday porch, I layered lush garlands across the fireplace mantel and added fairy lights for a magical glow at night. The gentle twinkle of warm lights mixed with the rich color of the needles creates such an inviting atmosphere.
I also draped a matching Norfolk pine garland across the front of the island and tied simple satin bows at each corner to tie in the ribbon used on the wreaths throughout the outdoor space.
To bring greenery through more of the farmhouse porch, I hung beautiful 24 inch Norfolk pine holiday wreaths on the cabinet doors and added gold satin ribbon. These evergreen wreaths create a festive wreath moment without overwhelming the space. I also created a simple seasonal centerpiece using Norfolk pine stems arranged inside a vintage brass champagne bucket which added both height and texture. A few pinecones tucked between the stems brought in natural elements that tie back to the rustic feel of the overall design.
Decorating tip: Faux is the way to go!
The beauty of using faux Christmas greenery is that it is reusable year after year which not only saves money but makes it so easy to try new placements and arrangements as your style evolves.

Bell Garland for a Festive Touch
Bell Garland for a Festive Touch
Bells are one of my favorite Christmas decorations because they instantly add nostalgic charm. I added two different kinds of bell garlands throughout our holiday porch to create balance and interest.
The focal point of the porch fireplace is the large sleigh bell garland from Antique Farm House. These oversized bells are pieces I bring out every Christmas season because they are classic, beautifully made and full of vintage charm. They pair perfectly with the scale of the fireplace and complement the greenery so well.
For the cooktop mantel, I used a smaller jingle bell garland for a more delicate look. The rustic charm of simple bells added a cheerful touch without competing with the larger elements in the space. I also added a strand of bells to the island and layered it over a green and white linen runner to softly tie in the color palette used throughout the porch.
Add Instant Charm with TV Art
The TV displayed on my outdoor TV is my “Reindeer in the Snow” digital art which continued the bell theme and added a cozy winter scene to the space.

Pinecones are such a beautiful way to bring natural elements into your holiday porch styling. Their earthy tones and soft texture add instant warmth especially when combined with winter greens. Whether you gather them outside from pine trees or purchase a variety of pine cones, they can be used in countless ways during the holiday season.
I used my DIY Pinecone Trees on the fireplace mantel to bring in height and handcrafted charm. They pair beautifully with lush garlands and evergreen trees. Over on the cooktop hood, I hung a large scale grapevine wreath and dressed it up with pinecones for a natural wreath moment that feels perfectly rustic for a farmhouse porch.
I sprinkled pinecones throughout the centerpiece and added them into my dough bowl candleholder arrangement in the seating area. This simple touch keeps the holiday porch feeling cohesive and filled with rustic charm.
Ambiance with Candles Cozy Fire and Warm Lights
Nothing creates a cozy vibe like layered lighting and this holiday porch relied heavily on warm lights and natural glow. I used a mix of LED candles, fairy lights, rechargeable lamps, and of course the soft firelight from the fireplace to give the space a warm inviting feel.
On the island, I placed black vintage style candlesticks with LED candles which offer a beautiful flicker without worrying about open flames. The black adds contrast while still matching the farmhouse style look. The simple black metal chandelier overhead gives ambient light without overpowering the finishes below.
To illuminate the counter space, I used scalloped glass shade rechargeable lamps. These are one of my favorite outdoor decor pieces because they are beautiful, high quality and move easily from countertop to coffee table to any outdoor tablescape. Their gentle glow makes the porch feel extra cozy during the holiday season.
I continued the use of candles in the seating area with lanterns near the fireplace and natural wax candles on the coffee table. The fireplace itself is the heart of the holiday porch and adds unmatched comfort and charm on cool winter nights.
Cozy Throws and Pillows
The winter weather here in the South is perfect for porch lounging so I made sure the seating area felt warm and inviting. I used green fur throw blankets to bring in both softness and texture. They pair beautifully with the green and ivory needlepoint pillow that features a forest scene fitting perfectly with the Christmas season theme and can be used even beyond the holidays into winter.
Neutral throw pillows featuring jute accents add contrast against the greenery and bring in more rustic elements. With the mix of fur throw textures, earthy tones and lush greenery, the seating area feels comfortable and cohesive.
Timeless Serving Pieces and Entertaining Essentials
Holiday entertaining is one of my favorite parts of Christmas time and having timeless serving pieces makes it even more enjoyable. I used a vintage inspired wicker cloche over a simple white cake topped with rosemary sprigs from my garden and bright cranberries. This adds a festive but natural finishing touch and gives the cake a beautiful farmhouse style presentation.
For serving, I used gold flatware and ivory scalloped Pioneer Woman plates. The scalloped edge looks so festive while still fitting within a neutral color palette and these pieces are durable and affordable enough for everyday use, even outdoors on a holiday porch.
