We gave it a try and I have seriously been hooked ever since…to the point that I was willing to pay $12 for a half gallon of this stuff every time we visited! Yikes! So I took a few weeks perfecting this recipe to share with y’all and I hope you like it as much as we do!

Types of Lavender
Lavender, with its soothing scent and striking lavender blossoms, comes in a variety of species, each boasting unique characteristics. Among the most famous varieties of lavender are the Provence and English lavender. Provence lavender, named after the picturesque region in France, is renowned for its vibrant purple hue and strong fragrance, making it ideal for perfumes and oils. English lavender, or Lavandula angustifolia, is celebrated for its sweeter scent and is frequently used in culinary applications. Lavender fields, whether in the rolling hills of Provence or the quaint gardens of England, offer breathtaking vistas of color and are a testament to the plant’s beauty.
Fresh or Dried Lavender
When it comes to culinary uses, the distinction between fresh and dried lavender flowers is crucial. Fresh lavender flowers often have a milder floral flavor, suitable for infusions and subtle flavor enhancements. Dried lavender, on the other hand, possesses a more concentrated aroma and a stronger taste, making it perfect for recipes where a more pronounced lavender flavor is desired. Culinary grade lavender refers to lavender that has been specifically grown and processed for eating. It is free from pesticides and chemicals, ensuring that it is safe and ideal for use in cooking and baking, where the purity of ingredients is so important. This distinction ensures that culinary lavender enhances dishes with its flavor without overpowering them or imparting any undesirable chemicals.

Kitchen Supplies
- Juicer (This glass juicer with measuring cup is my personal favorite)
- Mesh strainer
- Tea pot or small saucepan
- Glass pitcher

Ingredients
- 2 cups of lavender tea
- 6 medium fresh lemons (to yield about 1 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice)
- 6 cups of cold water
- 1/2 cup of honey
- Optional: Ice cubes for serving
- Optional: Fresh lavender sprigs or fresh lemon slices for garnish
Directions
Step One: Prepare the Lavender Tea
Start by making your lavender tea. Use 2 tablespoons of organic culinary lavender buds and steep them in 2 cups of boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Use a fine mesh strainer to separate the lavender buds and tea. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature or chill it in the refrigerator for a faster cooling process.
Step Two: Juice the Lemons
While the tea is cooling, take your lemons and roll them on a flat surface to make them easier to juice. Cut them in half and squeeze until you have about 1 cup of lemon juice.
Step Three: Mix and Sweeten

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled lavender tea, fresh lemon juice, and 4 cups of water. Stir in 1/2 cup of honey until well dissolved. For best results, use a whisk to ensure the honey integrates smoothly with the other liquids.
Step 4 : Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the lemonade for at least an hour to enhance the flavors and serve it cold. Add ice cubes directly to the pitcher or to individual glasses. Garnish with a sprig of lavender or a slice of lemon to beautify your serving and add an extra touch of aroma.

Tips for Perfect Lavender Lemonade
- Quality Ingredients: Use high-quality, culinary-grade lavender to ensure your lemonade has a beautiful, subtle flavor that does not overpower. Organic lemons and natural honey can also make a difference in taste and health benefits.
- Adjust Sweetness: Depending on your preference for sweetness, you can adjust the amount of honey. Start with less and add more as needed after tasting.
- Lavender Infusion: For a stronger lavender flavor, allow the buds to steep in boiling water for longer. If you prefer a milder lavender taste, reduce the steeping time.
- Preservation: If you make a large batch, Lavender Lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Always stir well before serving as natural separation may occur.

Can I use dried lavender instead of fresh?
Yes, dried culinary lavender is actually preferable for making tea as it’s more potent and easier to handle than fresh lavender.
Is there a way to make this lemonade without honey?
Absolutely! If you prefer, you can substitute honey with other sweeteners like agave syrup, simple lavender syrup or maple syrup. Adjust the amount based on your sweetness preference.
Can Lavender Lemonade be turned into a cocktail?
Yes, it makes an excellent base for a cocktail. Add a shot of vodka or gin to a glass of lemonade for a delightful summer cocktail.

?lavender tea is it in a tea bag? Or use a teabag and steep culinary lavender into with teabag is there a teabag I’m confused about the lavender tea, but I want to make it
Hi there! I boil the water in my tea pot. Once it’s boiled, I transfer the water to a small mixing bowl then add the lavender flowers. I let that steep for about 10 minutes then pour it into a mason jar with a fine mesh strainer on top to remove the lavender buds. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! Enjoy the lemonade 🙂
