Welcome to my Handmade Cottage Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour! I’m so excited to be joining my blogging friends for the 2024 Virtual Holiday Home Tour this year. This annual event is one of my favorites because it’s such a wonderful way to get inspired by so many amazing homes all dressed up for the holiday season.
After incorporating red into my Christmas color scheme last year, I was craving the cozy calm of my usual neutrals this year. I’ve always been drawn to all shades of green and when paired with white, deep brown, and gold, it’s the perfect neutral Christmas palette. To give my home a cohesive feel, I carried this color scheme through each space, using different patterns, textures, and handmade decor pieces.
This Christmas, I was especially craving a handmade touch. I created several DIYs to bring warmth and personality to each room—yarn trees, wreaths, garlands, stocking letters and ornaments all made by hand. I also incorporated pieces from my Christmas Digital Art Collection and a few new additions to my ever-growing gingerbread collection. Blending vintage Christmas touches with fresh handmade creations truly brings my cottage farmhouse style to life.

Let’s take a tour through each space: the dining room, cocoa bar, kitchen, living room, and finally, our greenhouse. Each filled with charm, warmth and a festive touch of handmade holiday decor.
Dining Room
My dining room is the first space to welcome guests into our home, so I always want it to feel inviting, festive, and full of holiday spirit. The green and white check linens I used for the table runner and napkins are the perfect neutral complement to my collection of gingerbread Christmas plates. I found several new gingerbread pieces at Hobby Lobby this year, and I love the whimsical touch they add while keeping the look elegant and cohesive.
For the centerpiece, I kept things simple but special. I gathered bottle brush trees in soft shades of white, green, and gold and turned a few into a quick DIY by removing their bases and adding them to vintage brass candlesticks. A few ivory candles in antique holders add a soft glow that instantly makes the room feel cozy and intimate.
One of my favorite handmade touches in this space is the doily garland draped across my china hutches. To make it, I simply wove cotton twine through the delicate edges of crocheted doilies. The result is a garland that feels perfectly vintage and full of handmade charm. I even used extra doilies on the table as to tie the entire look together.
Above my china cabinets, I hung vintage-inspired Christmas art prints from my digital collection. These pieces of holiday art make such a difference in pulling the whole dining room together and adding a nostalgic feel.
For the place settings, I layered my gingerbread Christmas plates with gold chargers and tied gold flatware with ivory satin ribbon. I love using ribbon! It’s such an easy, inexpensive way to give your table that extra festive touch. Between the soft glow of the fairy lights, the gold accents, and the handmade charm of each detail, the dining room feels like a cozy celebration of the season.

Cocoa Bar
This year marks the first year I’ve had a dedicated cocoa bar and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the house! I was inspired by a thrifted bar cart and decided to swap out the wood desk I normally have in this nook for something more festive. I filled the cart with everything we need for a cozy mug of hot chocolate including cocoa mix, toppings and treats for the whole family.
Of course, I couldn’t resist using my collection of Papa Noel mugs and the matching pitcher. Their sweet, vintage-style faces bring so much nostalgic joy. I’ve collected them slowly over the years, and they’re always a hit during the holidays. This cozy little corner has already been the center of so many family moments and holiday treats shared together.
Adding a small strand of fairy lights, a few bottle brush trees, and my printable cocoa bar banner made it even more special. It’s such a simple setup, but it adds so much holiday spirit to the room.

Since my white kitchen naturally feels light and bright, I love adding Christmas decor that brings warmth and personality. My open shelves are always my favorite to style! Being able to swap decor seasonally makes the space feel new and fresh without major changes.
This year’s Christmas kitchen centers around my gingerbread theme, which has quickly turned into a bit of an obsession! Gingerbread mugs, white Santa mugs, and whimsical figurines create a playful mix of nostalgia and charm. I hung my DIY gingerbread garland, which I made last year, across the shelves for a festive touch. Scattered among the shelves are my DIY gingerbread houses and vintage finds that add character and warmth.
I also swapped my usual neutral landscape art for a gingerbread-inspired print from my online digital art shop. Small changes like art swaps make such an impact in a white kitchen, creating a subtle but intentional Christmas feel.
On the island, I used the same beautiful wooden tray I styled for fall but gave it a Christmas refresh. A gingerbread tree cookie jar, a few bottle brush trees, and a handmade yarn wreath hung from a gold wreath hanger complete the look. (More about this yarn wreath in an upcoming post!) The mix of textures with ceramic, yarn, and wood, adds so much depth while keeping the color palette consistent with the rest of the home.

My friend Jennifer from Birchlane by Jennifer has so many unique and beautiful decor pieces including this gorgeous gold wreath hanger! I love the vintage style that can be used in any season.
The living room is the heart of our Christmas tour. The Christmas tree takes center stage, but the mantel, coffee table, and piano wall all play important supporting roles to make the space feel warm and layered.
This year’s Christmas tree features shades of ivory, dark green, brown, and gold. I mixed decorative velvet picks, classic ornaments and long-tailed deep green velvet bows for a sophisticated yet cozy look. To keep costs low while switching color palettes, I spray-painted inexpensive plastic ornaments in soft shades of green to complement my sage and jadeite decor.
One of my favorite handmade additions this year are the vintage-style Santa and Mrs. Claus silhouette ornaments I designed and framed in thrifted frames. I also made delicate lace doily ornaments using embroidery hoops, giving a sweet nod to the handmade charm found throughout the rest of the home. My Christmas tree topper is an ivory felt snowflake tree topper from Anthropologie—simple, timeless, and beautiful. Sadly, it’s no longer available on their site but may be available on resale sites.
For the mantel, I reused many of my favorite DIYs—yarn trees, ceramic jadeite trees, and vintage brass candlesticks. I layered my book page leaf garland and pinecone garland, weaving fairy lights throughout for a warm glow. A few large satin bows tied to carved candlesticks complete the look with understated elegance.
The coffee table is kept intentionally simple to balance the room. I used a vintage wicker basket filled with pinecones, a few ceramic green trees, and vintage brass trumpet candlesticks. A thrifted trifold frame holding watercolor Christmas tree prints ties in perfectly with the vintage art theme throughout the room.
Pillow covers in shades of ivory and deep green, paired with a chunky sage throw, make the space feel cozy and cohesive. For the TV art, I chose a classic Christmas cottage scene from my digital collection—full of nostalgic charm, soft light, and wintry trees that echo the rest of the room’s palette. I don’t have a Frame TV, but I project the art onto our smart TV using Airplay, and it looks beautiful framed in the simple wood surround we built ourselves.
On the piano wall, I displayed more vintage-style Christmas art prints, swapped out quilts on the blanket ladder, and added our stockings—each with custom monogrammed letters I made using wood, paint, and ribbon. I love how this wall ties the living room together and adds another personal, handmade touch.
Under the Christmas tree, I kept my wrapped packages simple and classic with a mix of green plaid wrapping paper, brown kraft paper, and soft satin ribbon. The combination feels cozy, nostalgic and perfectly in line with my cottage farmhouse style. I also added my free printable gift tags to each package. These one of my favorite little touches this year. I originally designed these tags because I’m forever forgetting to buy gift tags during the holiday season! Now I always have a pretty set on hand, and I love how they add a personal, handmade feel to every gift tucked beneath the tree.

Our vintage window greenhouse will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s such a peaceful space, especially during the holidays. My sweet potato vine has grown beautifully in here, adding a natural softness that pairs perfectly with the season’s greenery.
For Christmas, I added a North Carolina Pine prelit Christmas tree in the corner. The glow of the lights reflecting off the glass creates the most magical atmosphere at night. I kept the tree simple and natural—no ornaments, just the sparkle of the fairy lights surrounded by the trailing sweet potato vine.
The tablescape in the greenhouse is layered with a 100% linen sage and white plaid tablecloth, simple gold chargers and my favorite jadeite dishes. The centerpiece features candles, a lush greenery garland, and a pair of gold deer figurines for a touch of elegant holiday sparkle. It’s such a peaceful spot to enjoy a quiet meal or a mug of cocoa surrounded by twinkling lights.
Tips for Creating a Handmade Cottage Farmhouse Christmas
Start with a cohesive color palette. Choosing a consistent color scheme, like white, green, brown, and gold, helps your entire home feel connected and serene.
Mix old and new. Combine vintage Christmas pieces with handmade décor. It adds warmth, history, and personality to every room.
Reuse and reinvent. Don’t be afraid to restyle your favorite DIYs in new ways each year! Reuse garlands, trees and ornaments in different spaces.
Incorporate natural elements. Pinecones, greenery and wood accents add texture and bring the outdoors in, giving your home that elevated rustic charm.
Add a festive touch with ribbon. Ribbon is an affordable and easy way to add softness, color, and a sense of luxury throughout your home.
Use digital art for easy updates. Swapping out seasonal prints or displaying Christmas TV art is a simple, budget-friendly way to make your décor feel fresh every year.
Create handmade moments. Add small DIYs like a garland, ornament, or wreath to make your Christmas decor feel meaningful and truly one-of-a-kind.
Common Questions
How can I make my Christmas décor feel cohesive throughout my home? Choose one main color palette and carry it through each space using a mix of materials and finishes. In my case, shades of green, ivory, brown, and gold worked beautifully in every room.
What are some easy DIYs to make for the holiday season? Try simple projects like yarn trees, doily garlands, or handmade ornaments. They’re inexpensive, relaxing to make, and add a personalized touch to your décor.
How do you style a white kitchen for Christmas? Add layers of texture and warmth using wood tones, greenery, and soft lighting. Incorporate seasonal mugs, garlands, or framed holiday prints to make a white kitchen feel festive.
What’s your best tip for creating a cozy Christmas living room? Start with good lighting—use fairy lights, candles, and warm-toned bulbs. Then layer textiles like throw blankets, pillows, and ribbon for softness and depth.
Do you need a Frame TV to display digital art? Not at all! You can use Airplay or a USB device to display digital art on any smart TV. I project my Christmas TV art directly onto our screen, and it looks just as beautiful.
